In Odisha, Depression is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in next 24 hours

New Delhi: A depression over the Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger heavy rainfall coupled with gusty surface wind in several areas of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

Met office said today that, “The well marked low pressure formed yesterday concentrated into a depression and lay centered about 310 km east of Paradip over the north west and adjoining north east Bay of Bengal.”

To restore peace in Madhya Pradesh Chouhan resorts to indefinite fast

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday began indefinite fast to restore peace in the state at Bhopal’s BHEL Dusshera ground. He has said that his fast will continue till peace is restored in the state. 

Addressing the people, he said that he is in great pain after violent incidents during the farmers agitation. He paid tributes to those who were killed in police firing. He gave agitating farmers an open invitation for discussion.

Pak back to usual ways, resorts to heavy firing along LoC in Poonch sector

New Delhi: All pretensions made by Pakistan of deescalating tension on border evaporated sooner than expected as in yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani army resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing along the Line of Control in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani troops targeted forward defence locations and civilian population last night.

Darjeeling getting normal, Mamata acts tough, GJM plans long agitation

New Delhi: Even as Darjeeling started to return to normal, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday warned Gorkha Janmukti Morcha saying strict action would be taken against those creating unrest in the state. She said her government would not go for any compromise and deal with those who violated law. 

Banerjee said this while speaking to reporters at 'Uttarkanya', the mini-secretariat in Siliguri after reviewing the latest situation in the hills at a high level meeting. Chief Seretary, Home Secretary, DG Police and high officials were present in the meeting.

CBSE Challenges SC Stay on NEET Result 2017

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday approached the Supreme Court against a Madras High Court order to stay declaration of results of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which was taken by 11.38 lakh students for admission to MBBS and BDS courses.

On May 24, the Madurai Bench of the High Court granted an interim stay on the declaration of the results on a batch of petitions alleging that the test was not conducted in a uniform manner and the question papers in English and Tamil were different and of varying difficulty.
