New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from today will go to sit on an indefinite fast at BHEL DussehraMaidan in Bhopal.
His fast at DussehraMaidan in Bhopal will begin from 11 AM, where he will be holding an open 'durbar' for farmers to meet him.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference at his residence, Chouhan called upon farmers to shun violence and come forward for talks to resolve all issues. He said being a farmer himself, he understands the suffering of farmers and therefore, request people to come up to him with their problems. "I have decided that I will be listening to grievances in-person," the chief minister added.
The state government has also decided to set up a Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Input Cost and Marketing Commission to work out the cost of production of farm produce.
Chief Minister further said in the conference that, "The state government has started buying onions at 8 rupees per kilogram from farmers along with Moong and Urad pulses at the Minimum Support Price."
The government, which had earlier hiked the compensation to Rs 1 crore for the next of the kin of those killed in police firing, also promised to soon come out with a solution for farm loan waiver.
