Modi exhorts world leaders to unite in fight against terrorism

New Delhi: Prime minister NarendraModi made an appeal to world leaders to fight out the menace of terrorism in any form and said concerted efforts are required to find a solution to recruitment , training and financing of terrorists. Addressing the 17th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Kazakhstan capital Astana on Friday, Modi said terrorism was a major threat to humanity.

Modi said India gives utmost priority to increase connectivity among SCO countries and asserted that India would continue to work together with them. He said SCO can also focus attention to address the problem of climate change.

The Prime Minister thanked SCO member countries for giving support to the accession of India to SCO. He said with India and Pakistan induction, SCO covers 42 per cent of world population and 20 per cent of world GDP.

Few minutes after the Prime minister finished his speech, Kazakhstan President NursultanNazarbayev announced the accession of India and Pakistan to SCO group.

Prime Minister also held bilateral meetings with the leaders of Kazakhstan, China and Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the SCO meeting. The Prime minister invited Kazakhstan to become a member of the International Solar Alliance.
