jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Lobin Hembrom on Sunday agreed to conditionally support the government led by Champai Soren. After discussions with JMM chief Shibu Soren, Hembrom outlined several demands that must be met for his backing during the crucial trust vote on February 5 and 6.

One of his demands is the prohibition of liquor sales across the state, aiming to address alcohol-related social problems. Besides, he also sought the protection of forests and water conservation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lashed out at Congress and expressed his disappointment towards the party for not attending the recent 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.

During his address at a gathering in Guwahati, the Prime Minister highlighted the lack of understanding and respect for places of worship by those who have been in power since independence, adding that they set a trend of being 'ashamed' of their own culture.

"Unfortunately, those in power for a long time after Independence did not understand the importance of our holy sites. They made a trend out of the practice of being ashamed of one's own culture and past for political gains," PM Modi said.

#All Srinagar-Bound Flights Cancelled Due To Snow And Bad Weather

Snow and bad weather on Sunday forced the authorities to cancel all flights to Srinagar.

The snowfall that began on Saturday night intensified before inbound flights from New Delhi, Jammu, and other parts of the country could operate after a brief pause early this morning enabling clearance of the runway.

The snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir and also Ladakh threw normal life out of gear. The Jammu-Srinagar and other highways were closed to traffic due to snow and landslides. Several roads across the district of the Kashmir Valley and upper areas of Jammu were covered under snow.

#India, Maldives Hold 2nd Meeting On Male’s Demand To Withdraw Military Personnel

India and the Maldives on Friday held the second round of talks on Male’s demand for the withdrawal of all Indian military personnel from the Indian Ocean archipelago against the backdrop of strained relations between the two sides.

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu asked India to withdraw the military personnel by March 15 when the high-level core group set up by the two countries held its first meeting in Male on January 14. At the time, the Maldives contended in a statement at the time that the two sides agreed to fast-track the withdrawal of the personnel, but the Indian side had said more discussions would be held on the issue.

#India Recorded 14.1 Lakh New Cancer Cases, 9.1 Lakh Deaths: WHO

According to the latest estimates from the World Health Organisation (WHO), India reported over 14.1 lakh new cancer cases and more than 9.1 lakh deaths attributed to the disease. Breast cancer was identified as the most common form of cancer.

For men, cancers of the lip, oral cavity, and lung were the most prevalent, constituting 15.6% and 8.5% of new cases, respectively. Conversely, breast and cervical cancers were the leading types among women, accounting for close to 27% and 18% of new cases, respectively, as estimated by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the cancer agency of WHO.
