#CovidCrisis: ‘Catastrophe Could Have Been Avoided Had Govt Not Exported Oxygen, Vaccines, Medicines’

in SUNDAY FOCUS

New Delhi: With acute shortage of requisite medicines, oxygen, ICU beds and now Covid prevention vaccines wreaking a havoc across the country amidst the second phase of deadly corona pandemic, the Opposition leaders have cried foul play on part of Centre and alleged that it’s a complete failure of system in gauging the problem. To buttress their claims, the leaders cited government datas and alleged that India sold twice as much oxygen to the world during the first 10 months of the financial year 2020-21 as compared to 2019-2020 fiscal. Similarly, the Opposition alleged that the Modi government without assuming the need of the vaccination and medicines for country men, he chose of either export or gift them to other nations hence jeopardising national need.

#Dhoni: The One Who Played Pied-Piper Restoring Trust of Fans in Indian Cricket

in SUNDAY FOCUS

Soon after India won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, a hoarding went up outside Ranchi airport. It said, ‘welcome to the city of world cup winning captain’. Mahendra Singh Dhoni belongs to Ranchi, a city that was not known as a cricketing destination till this boy with long golden locks from the HEC Colony broke onto the national scene. His locks and helicopter shots mesmerised no less than Pakistan’s martial law administrator Parvez Musharraf, who once famously said that he would not ‘cede even an inch’ to make India happy.

Musharraf’s appreciation of Dhoni, however, left millions living east of the Wagah border proud. By December 30, 2014 when Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to retire from test cricket, Ranchi had become a cricketing pilgrimage, next only to the vintage Eden Gardens of Kolkata in East Zone. He used his resources and network to get the better of no less than Tatas, who controlled cricket in undivided Bihar and then Jharkhand from their industrial capital at Jamshedpur. The Jharkhand Cricket Association has now named the Southern stand of the stadium at Ranchi as MS Dhoni Stand.

#Janmasthami: Yogmaya Has A Meaningful Tale to Tell

in SUNDAY FOCUS

New Delhi: No one remembers the girl baby born on the same day who was interchanged with Krishna, a boy baby, to save his life. The boy's life was precious but the girl was born to sacrifice her life. Today is not only the birthday of Krishna but also of Yogamaya. It is said that Yogmaya flew off to Heavens freeing herself from the clutches of Kansa while announcing to Kansa that your killer has been born. Scriptures do not clearly mention that she too got killed like other siblings of Krishna. However more knowledgeable are requested to throw light on it.

Yogmaya was also an incarnation of Shakti who came to be born along with the incarnation of Lord Vishnu to keep some old promise. When Kansa caught her by her feet and hurled her to the ground, she flew towards the heaven, saying “Kansa, your killer has already taken birth. I could have also killed you but since you caught me by my feet, I take it as your expression of humility and am pardoning you”.
