Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu came out strongly in support of Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat’s assertion on Kashmir where he defended Major Leetul Gogoi who had used a Kashmini youth as ‘human shield’.
Calling the situation the Indian Army is facing in Jammu and Kashmir a “dirty war” to be fought through “innovative” ways, Gen Rawat stoutly defended the act of Gogoi, a young officer.

“Totally agree with Indian Army chief's statement that the dirty war in Jammu and Kashmir calls for innovation,” Naidu tweeted.
Gen Rawat yesterday came to the rescue of Major Gogoi saying such innovative ways are required to counter the dirty war underway in Kashmir. Indicating his firm approach to counter the insurgency, he said the Army would take steps, which would break the clutches of militancy in South Kashmir.
He added that the situation prevalent in Kashmir makes it mandatory for the Army to resort to tough measures.
