Pak court allows 350 Indian fishermen to return home after conviction

Pak

All 350 Indian fishermen, who had strayed into Pakistan’s territorial waters and were convicted by a Pakistani court, will soon return to their home. The court ordered their repatriation after they entered a guilty plea.
When judicial magistrate Salman Amjad Siddiqui visited the district jail in Malir to indict 350 fishermen, detained since January 27, and read out the charges against them, all the fishermen pleaded guilty.
Taking a lenient view, the court convicted the fishermen for a period they have already spent in detention and directed the jail authorities to approach the department concerned to make arrangements for their repatriation.

The Maritime Security Agency had detained the fishermen along with their 60 boats after finding them fishing inside Pakistani territorial waters in the Arabian Sea in separate actions taken between January 27 and May 4 this year.
