New Delhi:Controversial Islamic preacher and televangelist Zakir Naik's passport has been revoked after he continuously failed to appear before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with alleged terror-funding cases. 

The Regional Passport Office in Mumbai has revoked Naik's passport, after he failed to respond to a showcause notice issued to him for personal appearance by July 13. The notice was served asking Naik why his passport should not be revoked in view of various investigations pending against him. 

New Delhi:The Supreme Court has set up a 9-judge bench to examine whether right to privacy is a fundamental right under Constitution. 

The SC decision to form the 9-judge bench came while hearing petitions on linking of PAN card with Aadhaar. The 9-judge SC bench headed by CJI JS Khehar will start hearing from Wednesday. 

New Delhi: Air India Chairman and Managing Director AshwaniLohani has assured its employees their interests would be "safeguarded", seeking to allay their concerns over possible layoff following the government's decision to sell its stake in the national carrier. 

In the first formal communication from the debt-laden airline's top management since the decision to privatise it was taken, Lohani told the staff, "I would like to reassure all my employees that during the process of disinvestment, the government and the airline management would like to safeguard your genuine and valid interests and ensure that suitable measures to this effect are put in place." 

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has roped in tax officials to probe trans-LoC trade and alleged receipt of money by separatists groups in the Kashmir Valley, considered as the main source of terror financing. 

The Centre has allowed the deputation of officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) in the NIA to help the investigators probe the multi-layered trade transactions.

New Delhi:The GST Council has hiked the cess by 48 paisa to 79 paise per stick, though the price is likely to remain unchanged.

While the government claimed that the price will not increase, an ITC spokesperson said the company is studying the details of the decision.
