Defence sources told mediapersons that Pakistani troops started unprovoked shelling in the area around 7:30 am. Intermittent exchanges lasted uptill 4:00 PM. 

Army jawan Naik Muddasar Ahmed was martyred when Pakistani mortar shells landed on his bunker inflicting fatal injuries. 37 years old Ahmed belonged to Village Duchoo, Tehsil Tral, District Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
