Meanwhile, the court has also rejected Mukhtar Ansari's plea to conduct hearings through video conferencing in all the cases.

The Uttar Pradesh police have registered a case under the Gangster Act against former BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari and twelve of his associates.

The case pertains to the alleged use of fake documents to register an ambulance that was used to ferry Mukhtar Ansari from Ropar jail to a court in Mohali. The police began its inquiry in March 2021.

Mukhtar Ansari has more than 50 criminal cases against him in Uttar Pradesh and other states.
