After TMC, MPs of six more parties move privilege notices against Ranjan Gogoi

Opposition parties say that the former CJI's remarks "undermine the dignity of the House."

Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut and IUML's Abdul Wahab were followed by NCP’s Vandana Chavan and Dr Fauzia Khan, along with CPI's Binow Viswam.

"Law will take its own course. I am not attending today... I was there on Monday and on Tuesday. I should be there on Thursday," Justice Gogoi was quoted by ANI as having said, when asked about the privilege notices against him and his attendance in the House.

CPM members John Brittas and V Sivadasan filed the notices on behalf of their party. TMC Rajya Sabha members Jawahar Sircar and Mausam Noor were the first ones to file their notices against Gogoi.

Since he joined Rajya Sabha in March 2020, Gogoi has attended House sittings only seven times including on Monday. According to the rules, a member should attend at least one day during the session, and if unable to do so, the member should apply for leave which has to be sanctioned by the House.
