The coveted award of Sword of Honour was presented to Avinash Chettri, an alumnus of Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun and National defence Academy, Khadakvasla.

Addressing on the occasion General Bippin Rawat asked the newly commissioned officers to remain prepared to face the traditional and non traditional security challenges in the country. Interacting with media, General said that the Kashmiri youths are being instigated and misguided through social media. He said the army in Jammu & Kashmir is to protect the people and not to embroil with them. He however, said that the situation in Kashmir has been improved.
