New Delhi: Prime Minister NarendraModi arrived in Paris on Friday night on a two-day visit to France. French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb welcomed Prime Minister at the airport.
New Delhi and Paris have strong cooperation in areas like civil nuclear energy, defence and space. The visit of the Prime Minister is crucial for the ties between the two countries as well as also an opportunity to give a strong direction to the bilateral relationship.
New Delhi: Finance Minister ArunJaitley will chair the 15th meeting of the GST Council in New Delhi on Saturday. This meeting is likely to finalize the rates of tax and cess on gold, biscuits and a few other commodities.
According to an official release, the approval of amendments of the draft GST Rules and related forms are also on the agenda of the meeting. This is believed to be the last GST Council meeting before the rollout of the new tax regime from 1st of July.
New Delhi: UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres has expressed disappointment on the United States’ decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change. Guterres said in a statement that the US decision is a major disappointment for global efforts to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and promote international security.
New Delhi: Prime Minister NarendraModi has said that India was committed to protecting the climate, irrespective of the Paris agreement. Addressing the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) at St Petersbergin the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said India has traditionally been respecting the nature and desisted from exploiting it.
Prime Minister Modi, however, avoided a direct reference to the US withdrawing from the international deal, said media reports. “Paris or no Paris, our commitment to preserving the climate is for the sake of future generations,”Modi said while responding to a question about US President Donald Trump announcing withdrawal of the USA from the Climate Change deal.
New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices to the commissioners of all three municipal corporations of Delhi to show cause why contempt action be not taken against them for failing to ensure cleanliness in the national capital.The order passed by a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar said that there has been "wilful violation and disobedience" of court orders to collect and dispose of garbage.
