Govt open to reviewing notification banning trade of cow for slaughter

New Delhi: Union Environment Minister Dr Harshvardhan has said that the was open to the suggestions made by various groups on the cattle slaughter notification and that the matter was not a prestige issue with it. Amid a raging row over the order, Harshvardhan said, the intention behind the notification was not to harm any particular group, influence food habits or affect slaughter business.

Vardhan told media on the sidelines of a function on Sunday on the eve of World Environment Day in New Delhi that the suggestions that have been submitted will be reviewed.

GSLV Mark III D-1, India’s heaviest rocket all set to take off Monday evening

New Delhi: The countdown for the launch of Indian Space Agency ISRO's heaviest ever rocket GSLV Mark III D-1 began at 3.58 on Sunday evening. The most powerful launch vehicle ever developed by the ISRO, it is set to carry the communication satellite GSAT-19 into a geosynchronous transfer orbit, about 17 minutes after its lift off at 5.28 pm on Monday. It is set to blast off from the second launch pad of the SatishDhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

Two arrested for Saharanpur violence, district returning to normal

New Delhi: Two persons have been arrested in connection with the Saharanpur violence on May 9 in which a police out post and 20 vehicles were set ablaze.

In view of peace maintained in the district authorities have restored Internet services which were discontinued for last couple of days. AIR correspondent reports that the arrested persons have been identified as Rajan and Kadam Singh alias Shivam.
