New Delhi: Centre on Friday came out with a list of 30 more cities for development under Smart City Mission. With this the total number of smart cities has gone up to 90. Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala topped the list.
Urban development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu announcing the new batch of smart cities at a National Workshop on Urban Transformationsaid, 45 cities contested for 40 available smart city slots but only 30 were selected.
GURGAON: Due to unprecedented floods, the up-market suburb of national Capital, Gurgaon hit the headlines last year. The daylong deluge happened due to the failure of the sewage system of the city.
Gurgaon has been surviving without a ‘functioning’ municipal government for roughly about four decades now. The inadequate infrastructure not just on the surface but also below the ground makes the case even worse. All these together result in heavy traffic jams especially during monsoon. In many places sewage systems are not even linked with townships of different HUDA sectors.
New Delhi: Former LokSabha Speaker Meira Kumar will be the opposition candidate for Presidential elections against NDA's Ram Nath Kovind. Announcement in this regard was made by Congress President Sonia Gandhi after the meeting of opposition parties in New Delhi on Thursday evening. She appealed to all opposition parties to support Meira Kumar. Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad told media that all the 17 opposition parties unanimously decided to field Meira Kumar.
New Delhi: India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) in its 40th flight on Friday successfully launched 31 satellites in one go into a 505 km polar Sun-Synchronous orbit.
The ISRO- made rocket PSLV C-38, carried a 712- kg Cartosat- 2 series Earth- observing satellite and 30 co-passenger satellites together weighing 243kg.
New Delhi: Reacting to the so-called confessional video of KulbhushanJadhav and a press release by Pakistan, a MEA Spokesperson has said the developments bring out once again the lack of transparency and farcical nature of proceedings against former Indian Navy officer on concocted charges.
He said Pakistan never disclosed even to the ICJ Jadhav's purported appeal to a military tribunal in Pakistan. Baglay said Islamabad has also effectively prevented Jadhav's parents from pursuing the appeal and the petition filed by his mother.
