321

Canada has expelled the top Indian diplomat over potential links between the Indian government and Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar's death. This development comes shortly after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau blamed India for being behind Nijjar's assassination in June.

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly confirmed during a press conference that a top Indian diplomat has been expelled from Canada.

As per reports, the foreign minister did not elaborate as to when the Trudeau administration learnt about India's alleged involvement. However, Dominic LeBlanc, the Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs, stated that the government has had information about India's involvement "for weeks".

The identity of the Indian diplomat is yet to be revealed.
