As Australia clinched a record-extending sixth World Cup title, beating India by six wickets in the World Cup final on Sunday, the celebrations for Pat Cummins and co. went late into the night in Ahmedabad.

Following their memorable moments on the field with the coveted World Cup trophy, the celebrations for the team were carried out in the dressing room.

As players had their individual moments with the glittering ICC trophy, top-order batter Mitchell Marsh's unusual photo with the Cup became a talking point on social media.

Emotion ran high among the Indian players as they walked back to the dressing room after coming second-best by a distance to Australia in the World Cup final. It was a feeling of disappointment at not realising the dreams of more than a billion people. The trophy that had eluded them since 2011 remained out of reach.

Rohit Sharma’s tears found their way out, he tried not to show it but to no avail. Mohammed Siraj sobbed and head coach Rahul Dravid revealed that the dressing room was an emotional place.

Team India's former head coach Ravi Shastri stated on Friday that the hosts are the clear favorites in the upcoming World Cup final against Australia on Sunday.

At an event in Chennai, Shastri encouraged India to remain steadfast in their game plans. He emphasized that in the title clash, India don't need to make any deviations from their established approach.

"I think they will be relaxed. They are playing at home, and it's a very experienced side, and they don't need to do anything different. The way they have played...it will be around the way they had left in the last game. They should be holding that cup very soon.

Former England skipper Nasser Hussain, who has now donned the hat of an expert, is in India these days doing commentary for the ODI World Cup 2023 matches. After India beat New Zealand by 70 runs in the first semi-final played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the former batting great praised India’s dominant show and reserved special praise for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma by saying that he is the actual hero of this Indian team.

Rohit has set the stage on fire in the ODI World Cup 2023 and, in 10 matches, has scored a total of 550 runs. His strike rate is 124.15, and the 36-year-old has hammered 28 sixes in the ODI World Cup this year. With his four big hits on Wednesday, Rohit also broke Chris Gayle’s record of hitting most sixes in ODI World Cup history.
