The start of India's home Test season on Thursday (January 25) saw the return of a familiar sight as Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja wreaked havoc over the England batting unit after Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bat first on the first day of play in the first Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

India had a day to remember as England were bowled for a score of just 246 just after the third session of play began. Ashwin and Jadeja were at the heart of a stunning Indian bowling display, as both of them took three wickets each. Ashwin dismissed Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Mark Wood, while Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Tom Heartly.

For England, Crawley and Duckett had given them a good start with a 55-run opening partnership before the top order collapsed. Skipper Stokes was the lone fighter for the England team, with a knock of 70 in 88 balls. Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each.

Ashwin and Jadeja created history with their stunning bowling display as the duo become India's most succesful bowling pair in history. The star-studded pair broke Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble's record to have the most Test wickest by an Indian bowling pair in Test cricket history. Ashwin-Jadeja and Harbhajan-Kumble are the only two Indian pairs to take 500 wickets in Test cricket history.
