A dominant India brushed aside Australia for a big 96-run win to enter a fourth successive U19 world cup final on Wednesday. Chasing 291, Australia were bowled out for 194 in 41.5 overs with Vicky Ostwal taking 3/42 while Nishant Sindhu and Ravi Kumar chipping in with a couple of wickets each.
Earlier, a century from captain Yash Dhull and his double-century partnership with deputy Shaik Rasheed who missed out on his hundred by six runs powered India to a challenging 290/5 the world cup semi-final today. Australia struck early by sending back both the Indian openers cheaply. However, Dhull and Rasheed rebuild the innings nicely before opening up. And then in the final 10 overs, India racked up 108 runs to finish with a flourish.
Earlier, India Dhull won the toss and decided his team will bat first at the Coolidge Cricket Ground. India made the semi-finals unbeaten while Australia bounced back from a loss to Sri Lanka to enter the last-four. India defeated Bangladesh in the quarters while Australia got the better of Pakistan in their quarter-final match.
Ravi Kumar caused carnage with the ball as India played against Bangladesh Under 19 in the quarter-final. The pacer picked up three wickets to restrict the opposition to a score of 111 and help India win the clash by five wickets. Overall, the Men in Blue are undefeated in the tournament as they won all their three league matches.
Australia Under 19 were brutal in the quarter-final as they hammered Pakistan Under 19 by a massive 119 runs. Australia posted 276 runs in their allotted 50 overs while Pakistan could score only 157 runs while batting second. An exciting game of cricket awaits the cricket fans as both India and Australia will be high on confidence.
