jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Lobin Hembrom on Sunday agreed to conditionally support the government led by Champai Soren. After discussions with JMM chief Shibu Soren, Hembrom outlined several demands that must be met for his backing during the crucial trust vote on February 5 and 6.
One of his demands is the prohibition of liquor sales across the state, aiming to address alcohol-related social problems. Besides, he also sought the protection of forests and water conservation.
Additionally, he has called for the strict enforcement of the Chota Nagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act and the Santhal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act.
Another key condition is that no land should be acquired by the state or central government without the explicit approval of the gram sabha, the local village council. His fourth condition is prohibiting the allocation of mining leases without the consent of the gram sabha.
Hembrom, known for his rebel remarks against Hemant Soren and his own party, has also demanded the establishment of a rehabilitation commission to address the needs of those affected by land acquisition and displacement.
Furthermore, he seeks the creation of a special court dedicated to the expedited trial of cases filed against tribals and locals, which would help in protecting their rights more effectively.
Around 40 coalition MLAs of Jharkhand who shifted to Hyderabad amid fears of poaching bids by the BJP, will return to the eastern tate at 6 pm on Sunday to take part in the vote.
Soren is also set to take part in the trust vote after getting permission from the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court on Saturday to participate. He also sought the announcement and implementation of a proper domicile policy in Jharkhand.
Hembrom has made it clear that if these conditions are not met, he will continue his protest.
Former Jharkhand Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 in a money laundering case, had named Champai Soren as his successor, the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislative party.
A veteran and one of the founding members of the JMM, Champai Soren took oath on Friday at the Raj Bhavan.
The new government led by Champai Soren has now sought the floor test to prove its majority in the House.
