Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor To Get Operational By May

Noida: Commuters will soon be able to transit through around 30 km long elevated metro corridor between twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida over a period of next six months as the DMRC (Delhi metro rail corporation) is near about completion of the project. It erected the last girder on Tuesday in Sector-143 in Noida to mark the completion of civil work.   

AlokTondan, Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), said, “The civil work is completed and now are in process of starting the trial on the corridor from January next year.”

He said, “We are expecting to make this line operation by May next year till then testing of metro rail will be completed. This will be followed by inspection by commissioner rail for safety. Once he gives green signal, the corridor will be made operational for public.”

Over a period of 22 months, the DMRC erected 2830 girders on this 29.7 km long metro corridor. It has a total of 21 metro stations between these two cities.

Mangu Singh, managing director of DMRC said that there is constrain of rolling stocks as the first set of metro train dispatched and expected to reach Noida by mid December. Once it reaches, the trail will begin on the corridor.

He said that the rolling stock manufacturers will supply 11 sets of metro trains, out of total 19 sets which will cater to the need of ridership on this corridor, by April next year. The remaining will be supplied over next one year.
