Noida: Almost over a decade after the concept of Transport Nagar was tabled during one of the board meeting and was given go green single, Noida officials are now considering bringing out an allotment scheme for transporters and bus operators in the city.
AlokTandon, Chief Executive Officer cum Chairman of Noida, last week assured joint association of transporters and bus operators that his officers will work out to bring out a new scheme for allotments of developed plots to eligible applicants through draw of lots. He sought time of two weeks for finalizing the scheme after which it will be launched.
Higher authority’s assurance came after membersof jointmorcha of transporters and bus operators of Noida met CEO at his office in Sector-6 threatening that they will launch a massive protest against the authority if the allotment of plots to them was deferred further.
CEO has constituted a four member committee consisting of Rajesh Kumar, officer on special duty, one officer from department of finance and two members of the association. The committee has been assigned with responsibility of fixing the rate, an issue on which officials and transporters differ and due this difference the allotment has been delayed in the past.
Though, development of the project completed in 2013 but it had been lying unused. Dense weeds have come up due lack of proper upkeep of the project.
Transporters hub hand been developed over land areas of 26 acres in Sector-69, opposite to Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway. As many as 2,500 vehicles can be accommodated at a time here. It will have two gas pumps, one of which will be a CNG station for refilling vehicles.
Moreover, transporters will be allowed to develop a godown in the basement, offices on the ground floor and resting rooms on the first floor. There is provision of constructing around 120 shops selling automobile goods as well.
In 2015, the authority had launched a scheme for allotment of 500 plots, of sizes between120 to 150 square-meters, in the developed Transport Nagar. It had received around 623 applications from transporters and bus operators. They also deposited collectively Rs 27 crores with the authority.
According to Ved Pal, president of the morcha, the authority had fixed the rate of Rs 18,180 per square metreat the time of the launch of the scheme. In addition to launch rate, transporters were to pay location charges to the authority. But few months later, officials had increased the rate, he alleged.
Tandon said that as the compensation to farmers has increased with the passage of time, allotment rate has to be revised to meet the increased cost of compensation. However, he assured them that the authority will pay interest at the rate of 6 per cent to those applicants who had deposited the amount for allotment of plots in the developed area but it was delayed due to some reason.
