Cabinet decision soon to wind up Foreign Investment Promotion Board: Nirmala Sitharaman

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today informed that the Union Cabinet will soon take a call on the winding up of 25-year-old Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB). 
The minister was briefing the media, in New Delhi, on the initiatives and achievements of the ministry in the last three years.
On development of the North Eastern states, Sitharaman said her ministry is working on a new policy for the industrial development of the region. The North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy - 2007 has ended this year. 

She added that the ministry is holding consultations with those states to understand their industrial priorities with an aim to firm up something which can help in promotion of industry and employment generation there.
