Despite overtures in Washington Modi refuses to break ranks on Paris dead in The Hague

New Delhi: Prime Minister NarendraModi and Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Tuesday reassured their countries' pledge towards Paris agreement on climate change.

The top two leaders also took a resolve to strengthen collaboration in renewable energy sector during their informal discussion at Dutch Prime Minister's residence at The Hague.Earlier, Prime Minister Modi said Netherlands is a natural partner in India's economic growth.

In a joint press statement along with his Dutch counterpart during his Netherlands tour, Modi noted that Netherlands was now the third largest source of FDI during last three years.

The two countries signed three MOUs on Cultural Cooperation, Water management and Amending Social Security Arrangement for Indians working in Dutch companies. Pointing out that he is visiting Netherlands when the two countries are celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations, MrModi said the two countries have centuries old relations and are moving on growth paths constantly.

Underscoring the point that world is interdependent and interconnected now, PM said, India and the Netherlands have common views on the global issues.

Modi called on King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at their palace. He held discussions with the CEOs of some Dutch companies inviting them to utilize the vast opportunities provided by his 'Make in India' initiative.

He also addressed Indian diaspora in a community event, before winding up his three nation tour.
