After quitting LS, Akhilesh says will take people’s struggle from sadan to sadak

After paying tribute to party ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia on his birth anniversary on Wednesday, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said the people of Uttar Pradesh have “given a mandate to the party for continuing the struggle for them, and that the party will do so from sadan to sadak”.

Speaking with reporters in Lucknow on his decision to retain the Karhal Assembly seat after resigning his Lok Sabha membership from Azamgarh, Akhilesh on Wednesday said, “The SP has been given a mandate for struggle. We have been given a chance to stay in the state Assembly. From the sadan (Assembly) to sadak (roads), we will continue our struggle.”

Election for local bodies after providing reservation for backward classes, says Karnataka CM Bommai

The all-party meeting held on Wednesday unanimously decided to hold elections for local bodies after providing reservations for backward classes, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Bommai said political backward classes should be identified and a Commission should be constituted for this purpose.

"Appropriate measures will be taken in the backdrop of the recent Supreme Court [SC] order," he said.

Bengal Violence: Amid demands of central intervention by BJP and Congress, TMC turns to Amit Shah

While the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, the main opposition outfits in West Bengal, are pushing for the imposition of central rule in the state, the Trinamool Congress is seemingly relying on an unlikely person: union home minister and BJP leader Amit Shah.

A TMC delegation is scheduled to meet Shah in Parliament House on Thursday at 11.30am.

The situation comes against the backdrop of at least eight people being burnt alive in their homes by a mob in Bengal’s Rampurhat area following the killing of a local Trinamool Congress leader on Monday.

US firm sues Pune company for $950 million over ‘stealing’ vaccine

US biopharmaceutical company HDT Bio Corp has filed a $950-million suit against Pune-based Emcure in a Washington federal court, accusing the Indian company of “stealing” trade secrets for a new Covid vaccine.

HDT Bio said the Pune firm had stolen its innovative vaccine technology, which it had licensed to Emcure’s subsidiary Gennova for manufacture and distribution in India.

The US company added that its innovative vaccine uses a proprietary delivery platform, Lipid InOrganic Nanoparticle (LION) formulation to deliver immune-stimulating RNA fragments to targeted cells.

Pushkar Singh Dhami to be sworn-in as Uttarakhand CM today, PM Modi, Amit Shah to attend grand ceremony

Pushkar Singh Dhami will be sworn-in as Uttarakhand Chief Minister for a second term today (March 23, 2022) at a grand ceremony that will be held at the Parade Ground in Dehradun in the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah.

The oath-taking ceremony of the 12th chief minister of the hill state is scheduled to take place at 2.30 pm.

Apart from Modi and Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Dhami's Himachal Pradesh counterpart Jai Ram Thakur will attend the ceremony.
