Rupee rallies to strengthen by 8 paisa, closes at three-week high

New Delhi:Rallying for the fourth straight session, the rupee on Monday strengthened by 8 paise to close at a near three-week high of 64.36 a dollar on steady selling of the American currency by state-owned banks and exporters.
The rupee's previous best was seen on May 17, when it had closed at 64.15. A spectacular record-breaking bull-run in local stock markets along with robust capital inflows predominantly weighed on the home currency, despite strong dollar overseas.

Dropping call makes Minister Meghwal go climbing tree

New Delhi:Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal wanted to make a call but he had to climb a tree to do so. The remote Rajasthan village of Dholia presented a bleak picture of Digital India as the Minister of State for Finance discovered he could catch a mobile phone signal only after he had scaled the tree with the help of a ladder. Meghwal made news last year when he rode a bicycle to Parliament after the Delhi government implemented its odd-even traffic scheme.

Pak-origin terrorist identified to be behind in Saturday’s London attack

New Delhi:A Pakistani-origin man was among three knife-wielding militants responsible for carrying out the brutal London terror attack that killed seven people and injured 49, according to a media report. The man, identified as 'Abz' is believed to have been the ringleader of the trio that carried out the horror attack at two London landmarks, The Mirror reported. Abz, 27, is said to be from Barking in east London, was pictured lying on the ground after police swooped on the attackers on Saturday night and shot them dead in a flurry of 50 bullets.

CRPF rebuffs attack on camp in Kashmir, four terrorists killed

New Delhi: Four unidentified terrorists were killed after paramilitary forces foiled a fidayeen attack on CRPF camp at Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district during wee hours on Monday. 

A police official told mediapersons that a squad of four terrorists attempted to storm 45 Battalion CRPF camp around 0345 hours in Sumbal area that triggered fierce gunfight. During around one and a half hour gunfight, all the four attackers were killed.

22 passenger charred as bus collides with truck in Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: At least 22 passengers were charred to death in a road accident in Bareilly district in the wee hours of on Monday. The accident occurred when a Baharaich bound State Road Transport Corporation bus collided head-on with a truck.        

The accident happened on Lucknow Delhi highway at Rajaupur under Bethrichainpur  police station when a Baharaich bound UP State Road Transport Corporation bus collided head on with a truck coming from opposite direction. After the collision bus caught fire in its fuel tank. Police has said that 37 passengers were traveling in the bus.
