PATNA: In what could be interpreted as a conciliatory gesture towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was once his bête noire, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said, “Modi had emerged as a candidate for the top post in 2014 because he was capable for it as per people's wishes.”

Defending Donald Trump for firing former FBI director James Comey, America's envoy to the UN Nikki Haley called the US President "CEO of the country”, who, she said “can fire anyone he wants".
Haley said she believed that the criticism of Trump borne out of discomfort with his propensity to act on his decisions.
In a candid interview to ABC News, she said, Indian-origin Haley said, "He (Trump) can hire and fire anyone he wants."

NEW DELHI: Even as the issue of triple talaq is being debated in the Supreme Court, the Delhi High Court ruled that the marriage performed by a Muslim woman during the ‘iddat’ (waiting) period is not void. 
The court dismissed the claim of a man, accused of domestic violence by his wife, that their wedding was invalid as per the Islamic law, as she had not completed ‘iddat’ after getting a divorce from her first husband.
