Parliamentary panel to consult EC officials on electoral reforms

A Parliamentary committee has summoned senior officials of the Election Commission to discuss issues related to the Electoral Reforms. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice headed by Congress leader Anand Sharma is scheduled to meet on tomorrow over the issue of electoral reforms.
Last week, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi had held an all-party meeting to discuss the issues relating to the reliability of the Electronic Voting Machine and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail and electoral reforms.

President returns Delhi Govt’s Bill on time bound delivery services

President Pranab Mukherjee has returned a Bill passed by the Delhi Assembly on Right to Citizen for Time Bound Delivery Services which sought an amendment of the Union government’s Bill on the same issue. The President has sought an explanation from the Delhi government on a particular clause of defining its character. 
Sources in Rashtrapati Bhavan clarified that it was customary for the President to go by the advice of the Council of Ministers of the Central government.

While reviewing the security situation of Jammu and Kashmir at a high level meeting in Srinagar last evening, Mr.Jaitley also asked the forces to deal firmly with the inimical elements. In the meeting, he along with Army Chief General BipinRawat reviewed all aspects of the security situation in the state.

Gadkari promises Delhiites freedom from 50% traffic jam this Independence Day

NEW DELHI: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has promised to provide 50 per cent relief from traffic congestion to Delhiites by August 15, the Independence Day.
“There will be 50 per cent less traffic jam and 50 per cent less pollution in Delhi by Independence Day. We are going to open Eastern Peripheral expressway for public before August 15,” said the minister at an event organised to celebrate three years of Modi government.
