India Of 2017 Different From India Of 1962: Arun Jaitley

New Delhi: Defence Minister ArunJaitley has said India of 2017 is different from the India of 1962, in response to China’s veiled threat saying New Delhi should learn from its 1962 military debacle. 

"If they are trying to remind us, the situation in 1962 was different, the India of today is different," Jaitley said at India Today's Midnight Conclave in response to the reported remark by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) spokesperson.

Noida inspects 20 projects of leading developers, puts several on notice

Noida: A committee of the Noida Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) mandated to carry out inspection of the ongoing housing projects in the subcity, has submitted adverse findings about a large number of developers.  
Following the submission of findings several top projects have been issued notices. Some of the projects sent notice are Amrapali Zodiac, Amrapali Silicon City, Gardenia Granite, SkytechMatrott, SupertechCapetown, Sikka Group, Assotech group, Cloud 9, Antriksh Golf and others.

Delhi Assembly Resolution Reserving 85% Seats in DU A Mere Gimmick

New Delhi: The resolution passed by Delhi Assembly demanding 85% reservation in admission for the students domiciled in Delhi in government funded Delhi University colleges has come in for widespread criticism.
The House in its resolution has asked the central government to introduce 85% reservation in 28 Delhi University colleges for the city students. The House also adopted another resolution demanding an amendment in the Delhi University Act (1922), according to which no other university in Delhi is authorised to give affiliation to any college.

Ahead of GST rollout, the tax council meets to slash rates on fertilisers

New Delhi:The government has reduced the GST rate on fertilisers from 12 per cent to 5 per cent. The decision was taken by GST Council at its meeting in New Delhi on Friday which was chaired by Finance Minister ArunJaitley. 
Briefing media after the meeting, Jaitley said, the government has received several representations for reducing the tax rate on fertlisers. He said, it was felt that the previous rate could have overburdened farmers.
