5.56 Lakh Taxpayers On IT Radar Over Demonetisation Deposits

New Delhi: The Income Tax Department has, in the second phase of Operation Clean Money (OCM), identified 5.56 lakh people whose deposits during the demonetisation window do not match their income profile.

All taxpayers so identified would be informed via email or SMS and that they can view the relevant information on the e-filing portal https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

Diplomatic Channels Only Way Ahead For Resolving Doklam Issue, Says Govt

New Delhi:India has asserted standoff between its Army and Chinese Army in Doklam area would be resolved by continuing to use diplomatic channels. 

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson GopalBaglay said there was conversation on a range of issues between Prime Minister NarendraModi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at Hamburg in Germany, and diplomatic channels remain available to both sides for a resolution of standoff in the Doklam area.

NGT bans construction within 100m of Ganga between Haridwar and Unnao

New Delhi: National Green Tribunal (NGT) has passed a number of directions to rejuvenate River Ganga, declaring as 'No-Development Zone' an area of 100 metres from the edge in the stretch between Haridwar in Uttarakhand and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. 

The NGT also orders that there shall be no dumping of waste of any kind within 500 metres from the edge of River Ganga.

In Drought-Hit Kerala, Women Dig Deep To get The Drops To Survive

New Delhi:In the villages of Kerala, there are many stories of struggle that have come to light. While a major portion of south India is reeling under severe drought, many women from Kerala's Palakkad district have gone against all odds to dig as many as 190 wells to ensure availability of drinking water since last August.

The state is passing through one of the worst droughts in the last century. A majority of the 44 rivers that cut across the state, acclaimed as God’s Own Country, are either dry or near-dry, hitting the farming and plantation sectors hard.
