New Delhi: Election Commission has barred MPs and MLAs from using their personal pens for voting in the Presidential election today.

According to apex election body, they have to mark their ballot with a specially-designed marker.

Following the ink controversy in the RajyaSabha polls in Haryana last year, the Election Commission has decided to use special pens for the electors to mark their votes in the presidential and vice presidential polls.

New Delhi: Making an oblique reference to the recent corrupt cases against leaders of Trinamool Congress and RJD, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the political class to join hands against those seeking an escape route by dubbing action against graft as a political conspiracy.

Addressing an all-party meet ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning today, he said action against corrupt politicians is a must.
"When the law takes its course against those who loot the nation, then we have to unite against those who seek an escape route by dubbing such an action as a political conspiracy," the Prime Minister tweeted.

New Delhi: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has fired a fresh salvo at the Narendra Modi government, saying the country could not be hostage to those "who wish to impose upon it a narrow-minded, divisive and communal vision". 

Addressing a meeting of MPs from several opposition parties on the eve of the presidential poll, Sonia said the election represented "a conflict of disparate values" and the battle should be fought hard.

New Delhi: The test-firing of the US Howitzers guns in Pokhran in Rajasthan is primarily aimed at collating and determining various critical data like trajectory, speed and frequency of fire of the M-777 A-2 ultra-light howitzers (ULH) which are expected to be mostly deployed along the border with China.
