New Delhi: There is fresh trouble for YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy as the Enforcement Directorate has attached assets of over Rs 148 crore in Andhra Pradesh in connection with its money laundering probe. The cases relate to Reddy and others. Official sources said, a provisional attachment order under the PMLA law has been issued.
New Delhi: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval along with other top security officials of the BRICS nations on Friday called on Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. The meeting comes amid a standoff between China and India in Doklam area in the Sikkim sector.
China had acknowledged that Doval and his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi met on the sidelines of the BRICS. The NSAs met and discussed major problems in bilateral ties. However, Beijing made no mention of the Doklam standoff. There are media reports that Doval so far in Beijing has failed to find desire on the part of China to resolve the matter amicably.
New Delhi: Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has said that enough arms and ammunitions are available in the country to face any exigencies. Replying to supplementary questions in the Lok Sabha, he said that all public sector defence units are producing arms and ammunitions as per need of defence forces. He said government has finalised the policy of strategic partnerships in defence sector.
The Minister said, the policy is intended to institutionalize a transparent, objective and functional mechanism to encourage broader participation of the private sector in manufacture of major defence platforms and equipment. He said, indigenous contribution in the production of arms and ammunitions have increased many folds. The Minister said further, government has initiated move for modernisation of state owned ordnance factories and has taken measures to increase their production capacities.
Replying to supplementary, Minister of State of Defence Subhash Bhamre said that no state owned ordnance factory will be closed down and no worker will face unemployment. He said, 25 private sector factories have been identified to engage for production of arms and ammunitions for defence forces. He said, eight items including aircraft submarines, helicopters and armoured vehicles will be produced from identified private sector Indian companies.
This comes after a CAG report said that India lacked enough ammunition to fight even a 10 day war.
New Delhi: BJP National President Amit Shah and Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Smriti Irani have filed their nomination papers for Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. BJP has also fielded Balwantsinh Rajput - as its third candidate for Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. Balwantsinh Rajput, the former chief whip of Congress legislative party joined BJP on Thursday evening along with two other Congress MLAs.
New Delhi: As many as 32 new national waterways in the country have been considered technically feasible for development of shipping and navigation and 7 have already been approved, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
