New Delhi: In a major relief to embattled Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Ahmed Patel, 42 Gujarat Congress MLAs, holed up at a luxury resort 25km from Bengaluru, have put up a show of unity by extending their support to him. His nomination has created a storm in the party unit.

National spokesperson of Congress and Gujarat MLA Shaktisinh Gohil claimed that BJP came up with an "irresistible offer" - Rs 15 crore to each MLA, a party ticket in Gujarat polls and funds to contest. "The BJP has resorted to low-level politics and is using money, muscle and state machinery to win polls," he said.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged the nation to come together and work relentlessly towards making a new India. In his Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio, Mr Modi said, in this month of August, the people should resolve to eradicate social evils like filth, poverty, corruption, terrorism, casteism and communalism. He called for launching a mega campaign 'Sankalp Se Siddhi - Attainment through Resolve' from 9th of August to be fulfilled in the next five years.

New Delhi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recovered a detailed protest calendar issued and signed by Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani , pointing to the role of separatists in organising events in coordination with handlers in Pakistan that led to widespread violence in Kashmir.

The National Investigation Agency has found documents that list dates and when protests and other activities related to civil unrest was to be carried out in the Valley following the shooting of Hizbul Mujahideen leader Burhan Wani.

New Delhi: In Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district on sunday. Official sources said, the encounter broke out after security forces launched a search operation at village Tahab early sunday morning. 

The search operation was launched following a specific information about the presence of terrorists in the south Kashmir village. Terrorists opened fire when security forces were sealing the area. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed.
