Mughalsarai Now To Be History, Its Now Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar

New Delhi: The Union home ministry has approved a proposal to rename Mughalsarai railway station in Uttar Pradesh after Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya. 

As per the approved proposal, the junction will now be rechristened "Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar station'. Upadhyaya was found dead under mysterious circumstances on a railway platform at Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, in 1968.

The proposal to rename Mughalsarai junction originated from the Yogi Adityanath government in UP. It had sent the file to the ministry of railways for approval, which then forwarded it for home ministry's clearance.

I-T Offices To Remain Open Today, Last Day For Filing Returns

New Delhi: Offices of the income tax department will remain open across the country on Saturday, the last day for filing of returns.

The government had extended the last date for filing returns to August 5, from the earlier July 31 as last-minute filers faced difficulties accessing the department's online system. The deadline for linking Aadhaar number with the Permanent Account Number (PAN) was also extended to August 31.

"In view of the difficulties faced by taxpayers, the due date for filing of income tax returns for fiscal year 2016-2017, i.e. assessment year 2017-2018, was extended to August 5, 2017 (for certain categories of taxpayers)," the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement.

Aadhaar Made Mandatory For Registration Of Death From October 1

New Delhi: Aadhaar number will be now required for the purpose of establishing the identity of the deceased for death registration from 1st October this year. 

In a notification, Registrar General of India (RGI) said, the use of Aadhaar for the applicants of Death Certificate will result in ensuring accuracy of the details provided by the relatives and dependents. 

It will provide an effective method to prevent identity fraud and also help recording the identity of the deceased person. Besides, it will obviate the need for producing multiple documents to prove the identity of the deceased person.

First Hindu Inducted Into Pak Cabinet In Over Two Decades

New Delhi: Pakistan's new Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has inducted the first Hindu Darshan Lal into his cabinet in more than 20 years.He has formed his cabinet by filling it with his toppled predecessor Nawaz Sharif's aides and allies. 

The "reshuffle" was aimed at bolstering support for the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ahead of the general elections in mid-2018, with President Mamnoon Hussain administering the oath of office to 47-member cabinet that included 28 federal and 19 state ministers in a televised ceremony at his official residence.

Pakistan Has Increased Attempts To Push Terrorists Into J&K, Says Defence Minister

New Delhi: Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today said that Pakistan has increased attempts to push terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir through the border, but there is a high number of casualties on its side. 

In reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, MrJaitley said that the Indian Army has domination and impact along the western border and all steps have been taken to check infiltration from across the border. 

He said, due to the heightened vigil though many infiltration attempts have been foiled there have been 285 incidents of ceasefire violation so far this year through the LoC, compared to 228 last year.
