EVMs With Paper Trail To Be Used For Gujarat Assembly Elections: EC

New Delhi: The Election Commission has told the Supreme Court that it can conduct the Gujarat assembly elections, due late this year, using Electronic Voting Machines, EVMs with paper trail.

A bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar accepted the submission of Election Commission of India (ECI) and disposed of the plea seeking direction for use of Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines in Gujarat assembly polls.

The VVPAT machine is connected with EVMs and dispenses a paper proof for the voters so that they can verify that their vote is cast correctly.

Jaitley Says Lesson Learnt From ’62 War, Forces Are Prepared

New Delhi: Even as the border stand-off with China in Doklam continues,Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has asserted the Indian armed forces are strong enough to meet any challenge to the country's security as lessons have been learnt from the 1962 war.

He said India had "learnt a lesson" from the 1962 war with China that "the armed forces will have to be made fully capable on our own because even today the nation faces challenges from our neighbouring countries."

Sitting In Shahdra, SLC Students Connect With Don Of International Business At Atlanta

New Delhi: It was an innovative experience for thestudents sitting in Shahdra on Tuesday connecting with eminent Prof. John R. Mclntyre, a professor of Management and Executive Director, GT-CIBER Scheller College of Business, Atlanta, GA, USA. 

In a unique experiment, Virtual Classroom was held by Shyam Lal College of Delhi University. Since 2015, Shyam Lal College (SLC) has taken the pioneering initiativeby organizing Virtual lectures with global experts through SKYPE software for reinforcing the knowledge &skill of students and faculty members.

In the same spirit, once again on 8th August, 2017, SLC department of Commerce and Academic Affairs and Monitoring Committee, organized its 5th Virtual Public Lecture on ‘International Business as a Key Research Question for Management Scholars in the US: Challenges and Impact’ as part of the SLC public lecture series by professor John R. Mclntyre.

Modi to Collectors: Move Beyond Files, Fan Out In Fields

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the District Collectors across the country to work towards improving the lives of the poorest of the poor. 

In a first-of-its-kind interaction, Mr Modi addressed the district collectors through video-conferencing last evening, on the theme, 'New India - Manthan', on the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement. 

The Prime Minister urged them to move beyond files, and go to the field, to understand ground realities, such as the condition of health services in remote parts of the district.

Accused of stalking, attempting abduction, BJP leader Subhash Barala’s son arrested by Chandigarh police

New Delhi:Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP chief, and another accused Ashish Kumar were today arrested over charges of attempt to abduction and stalking of a 29-year-old woman in Chandigarh on Friday night. 

Chandigarh Director General of Police Tajender Singh Luthra told media persons that the arrests were made on the basis of new findings in the last 5 days of investigation. 

He said, charges of attempt to abduct under relevant sections of the IPC have been added to the FIR registered against the two. He said that both were summoned by the police to join investigation today after collecting CCTV footage.
