New Delhi: In Himachal Pradesh, the rescue teams have retrieved 46 dead bodies from the debris after massive land slide triggered on Manali-Pathankot National Highway in Kotrupi area of Mandi district on Saturday midnight.
New Delhi: The Centre has announced setting up of a regional medical research centre at Gorakhpur in view of the recurring deaths of children in the region. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda told newspersons, his ministry has sanctioned 85 crore rupees immediately for the project.
The announcement comes in the wake of several deaths at BRD Medical College during the past one week. The Union Minister said, a team of specialists from New Delhi are camping at Gorakhpur to strengthen the treatment protocol and ascertain the cause of death of so many children.
New Delhi: In Jammu and Kashmir, three terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces at Zainapora in Shopian district. Director General of Police SP Vaid said, Security forces launched a cordon and search operation following information about presence of terrorists in Avneera village of Zainapora area yesterday.
As the forces were conducting searches, the terrorists opened fire on them which was retaliated by the law enforcement personnel, triggering a gunfight. The slain terrorists were identified as local HizbulMujahideen cadres. Three rifles were also recovered from the encounter site.
New Delhi: The Centre is willing to grant exemption from NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for one year to Tamil Nadu in terms of government college medical admissions to help rural students, Union Minister NirmalaSitharaman has said.
Speaking at the sidelines of an event on Sunday, she said the State needed to pass an Ordinance seeking exemption for one year, which should specify that the exemption was being provided to help rural students to get admission in government colleges.
“As for the private colleges and deemed universities are concerned, Tamil Nadu is already admitting students as per NEET.
New Delhi: Defence Minister ArunJaitley on Sunday said that terrorists in Kashmir valley are now on the run and the number of stone pelters has dwindled from hundreds to twenty or thirty.
Speaking at a private News channel function in New Delhi, MrJaitley said, currency squeeze after demonetization and NIA action on hawala deals by separatist leaders have resulted in terrorists looting banks in the valley for funds.
He said, terrorists used to cross Line of Control in thousands earlier, but now the figure has come down substantially. MrJaitley specifically praised the Jammu and Kashmir police for working hard towards eliminating terrorists.
