India recorded its lowest number of daily Covid cases in over 200 days with the tally on Monday falling below 20,000 for the first time since March this year as Kerala logged 11,699 fresh infections, the fewest in nearly five weeks. Deaths from the virus also fell to 178, the lowest daily toll since March 22 — again, thanks to a sharp drop in fatalities reported in Kerala. The state recorded 58 deaths on Monday, down from 165 on the previous day. India logged 19,859 fresh cases of the coronavirus, with Jharkhand’s data yet to come in till after midnight, the lowest daily case-count since March 9 this year, 202 days ago.
