#KashiVishwanathCorridor: PM Modi Pitches BJP's Attempt To Restore Country’s Lost Glory

in DNDNews

Inaugurating the Rs 900 crore Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched the project as another attempt by the BJP government to restore the country’s lost glory while asserting that it is not just a building but a symbol of India’s heritage and spiritual soul.

The BJP governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh have been constantly making efforts to renovate temples and other places of religious importance.

Be it the Ram Temple in Ayodhya or Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, the issues have had the Hindutva agenda in its core.

While the BJP leaders have been boasting that they have forced the opposition to talk about Hindus and Hindutva, the opposition has been claiming that the BJP doesn’t have a copyright on issues concerning the majority.

#NewIndia: Jammu and Kashmir Did Not Accede To This India, Says Omar Abdullah

in DNDNews

National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Sunday condemned Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's remarks that offering 'Namaz' in open spaces will not be tolerated, saying the decision was wrong and it clearly meant that one particular religion was being targeted.

He said there is total freedom to practice one's religion in the country.

"The Haryana CM's statement and his decision is totally wrong," Abdullah told reporters after a party function in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.

"I would have accepted it had this ban been on every religion, but by this pick and choose, it is clear that the target is one particular religion which is not allowed by the Constitution of this country," he added.

#Centre-State: Opposition States Giving Selective Nod For CBI Probe, Alleges Centre

in DNDNews

States that have withdrawn their general consent to the CBI to probe corruption cases are selectively giving consent in cases that they want to be investigated by the agency, minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh said at the CBI's investiture ceremony on Sunday. Till now, eight opposition-ruled states have withdrawn consent to the CBI in the last few years, alleging vendetta by the central government.

Expressing concern over certain states withdrawing their general consent to the CBI to investigate cases, but nevertheless holding on the prerogative to give selective consent where it suits them, Singh called for wider introspection by the polity, the society and the nation at large on whether this was the kind of propriety which was to be followed.
