US President Joe Biden on Wednesday faced a heckler at a campaign fundraiser in Minnesota, calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Biden responded to the heckler, a woman rabbi, and said that the Israel-Hamas conflict needs a "pause".
The US President was speaking to nearly 200 people when the heckler said, "As a rabbi, I need you to call for a ceasefire right now." She shouted in the midst of Biden's speech.
Driving a hard bargain for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh amid friction between his party and the Congress, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said if the opposition alliance (INDIA bloc) materialises in the state, his party would contest on 65 seats and leave 15 for the alliance partners.
In UP, INDIA bloc has four constituents - SP, Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Apna Dal (K).
The Pentagon is planning to create a new super-powerful nuclear bomb, 24 times stronger than the one used in Hiroshima in 1945. This announcement comes after China revealed its intention to double its nuclear weapons to more than 1,000 by 2030.
"Today, the Department of Defense (DoD) announced that the United States will pursue a modern variant of the B61 nuclear gravity bomb, designated the B61-13, pending Congressional authorization and appropriation. The Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) would produce the B61-13," the Department of Defence release said.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected any ceasefire with Hamas on Monday, comparing Israel’s situation to the United States’ after Pearl Harbor and 9/11. He said that a ceasefire would mean giving up to Hamas, to terror, to barbarism. Netanyahu quoted the Bible that there is a time for war and a time for peace. He said that this is a time for war, a war for a common future.
At least 15 people were shot at, including two who were critically injured, when a gunman opened fire during a Halloween celebration in Chicago on Sunday morning. The gunman fired shots into the gathering just after 1 am in the Lawndale neighborhood on the city’s West Side, police said.
Six women and nine men were shot during the Halloween party, police and witnesses reportedly said. The victims’ ages ranged from 26 to 53 years old.
