Americans are divided on whether Israel's response to Hamas' October 7 attack has been excessive or appropriate, with a majority of Democrats now expressing the view that it has been too much, according to the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

The outcomes were driven by individuals of colour and younger respondents, who were significantly more inclined to assert that Israel's actions have exceeded appropriate limits. Moreover, they expressed a greater degree of sympathy towards the Palestinians as opposed to the Israelis.

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in United States' San Francisco to meet US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' meeting. Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi are set to hold US-China Summit on Wednesday in San Francisco Bay Area.

The meeting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation would be the first between Biden and Xi Jinping since their talks at the sidelines of the G20 Summit 2022 in Bali, Indonesia.

China will hold a joint military exercise with five south east Asian countries in mid-to-late November, state media outlet Xinhua reported on Sunday.

The exercise, to be held in China's southern Guangdong province, will include Cambodian, Lao, Malaysian, Thai and Vietnamese forces.

The drills will be focused on counter terrorism and maritime safety, Xinhua said.

FBI agents seized phones and an iPad from New York City Mayor Eric Adams this week as part of an investigation into his campaign fundraising, his attorney confirmed Friday.

The seizures happened after an event Monday night, according to a statement from the mayor’s attorney, Boyd Johnson.

“On Monday night, the FBI approached the mayor after an event. The Mayor immediately complied with the FBI’s request and provided them with electronic devices,” the statement said. “The mayor has not been accused of any wrongdoing and continues to cooperate with the investigation.”

The UK government has proposed plans to include India in the expanded list of 'safe states' which will escalate the process of bringing illegal Indian migrants back to their country and rule out their chances of getting asylum in the country.

India and Georgia were the countries which were proposed to be added to the list in a draft legislation tabled in the House of Commons on Wednesday (Nov 8).
