Elon Musk says Twitter deal cannot move forward until Parag Agarwal takes bold steps

in WORLD

There seems not all is well between billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal as there is an undercurrent flowing between the two with online war of words. After Elon Musk seeked details about fake accounts on the microblogging platform, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal shared an extensive Twitter thread on spam accounts.

Parag Agrawal tweeted, "We suspend over half a million spam accounts every day, usually before any of you even see them on Twitter. We...lock millions of accounts each week that we suspect may be spam." in a series of tweets, the Twitter CEO reflected on how spam harms the experience of real people on the microblogging platform.

He wrote that the microblogging platform locks millions of suspected spam accounts every week. The most advanced spam campaigns use combinations of coordinated humans and automation, he wrote. He further went on to write that these spams also compromise real accounts, and then use them to advance their campaign.

Putin says ‘no problem’ with Finland, Sweden's NATO bid, but there’s a warning

in WORLD

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday said his country Russia “does not have problems” if Finland and Sweden become members of the US-led military alliance North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

Putin said the Nordic countries' entry into the western alliance does not pose any “immediate threat” to his nation. His statement comes hours after Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said her country will inform NATO about its intent to officially enter the military alliance, thereby following Finland's move.

He, however, added that NATO enlargement was being used by the US in an “aggressive” way to aggravate an already difficult global scenario, and that bolstering military infrastructure in the new Nordic members' territories would “certainly provoke our (Russia's) response”.

The soldier, who says he is 20, can be heard complaining to his mother that the war will not end soon and that he doesn't want to be there.

"This Ukraine does not interest me at all. I need to come back and quit," he said, explaining that many other Russian soldiers do not want to be there either.

Spain could become the first European country to offer three day menstrual leave

in WORLD

A draft regulation in the works in Spain intends to provide three-day menstrual leave. This is part of a larger draft bill on reproductive health and abortion rights. And, if passed, it will become the first European country to offer this leave.

The Spanish Gynecology and Obstetrics Society says that around one-third of women who have periods suffer from severe pain called dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea refers to a condition that either starts prior to or during the period causing discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue and diarrhoea.

"If someone has an illness with such symptoms, a temporary disability is granted, so the same should happen with menstruation ― allowing a woman with a very painful period to stay at home,” said Angela Rodriguez, Spain’s secretary of state equality and gender violence; who also floated this idea in March. The legislation is expected to be approved next week at the Spanish Cabinet meeting.

In damage control mode, US vows not to let Imran damage ties with Pak

in WORLD

Concerned over the adverse fallout of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s allegation that a US-led ‘foreign conspiracy’ ousting his government from power in Pakistan, the US State Department came into a damage control mode.

A State Department spokesperson Ned Price has said the Joe Biden administration won’t allow the allegation to cause any damage to his country’s ties with its strategic ally. Dismissing Khan’s foreign conspiracy claim as “propaganda and lies”, he said the US values its relationship with Pakistan.

The State Department Secretary said, “Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a detailed discussion with Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. They talked about strengthening the ties between two countries.”
