US surpasses China as India’s biggest trading partner in FY22 at $119.42 bn

The US surpassed China to become India’s top trading partner in 2021-22, reflecting strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

According to the data of the commerce ministry, in 2021-22, the bilateral trade between the US and India stood at USD 119.42 billion as against USD 80.51 billion in 2020-21.

Exports to the US increased to USD 76.11 billion in 2021-22 from USD 51.62 billion in previous fiscal year, while imports rose to USD 43.31 billion as compared to about USD 29 billion in 2020-21. During 2021-22, India’s two-way commerce with China aggregated at USD 115.42 billion as compared to USD 86.4 billion in 2020-21, the data showed.

Veteran actor Ray Liotta has passed away. He was 67 years old and spending some time in the Dominican Republic when it happened, according to Deadline.

According to Deadline, Ray Liotta died in his sleep. Much more information about his death has not been disclosed.

Ray Liotta was shooting the film 'Dangerous Waters' in the Dominican Republic.

As reported by different media at the time (in 2021), Ray Liotta had gotten engaged to Jacy Nittolo. He passed away before they could tie the knot.

US retaliates against China & Russia, flies F-16 jets in Sea of Japan after QUAD dare by Xi, Putin

To showcase combined capabilities to deter and counter regional threats, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command aircraft conducted a bilateral exercise with Japan’s Air Self-Defense Force in the Sea of Japan. 

This exercise was conducted to demonstrate "our nation’s rapid reaction capabilities, high levels of force readiness, close coordination, bilateral interoperability, and credible deterrent capacity," said the U.S Indo-Pacific Command in a statement. This after China and Russia flew military aircraft in the Indo-Pacific during QUAD summit in Tokyo.

Texas shooting: Gunman, bullied for faltering, wrote online about shootout minutes before attack

America disgraced itself with yet another mass shooting in a Texas school, where a teenager with state-legislated easy access to military grade guns massacred 19 children.

The 18-year old, named as Salvador Ramos, went on the rampage after shooting his grandmother (who survived). He was killed by a border patrol agent in a shootout. Media reports said the teenager, a student at the same Robb Elementary School in the mostly Latino town of Uvalde was upset over failing grades and being bullied because of a lisp and for dressing unconventionally.

Ukraine War: 200 bodies found in basement of Mariupol building

As many as 200 bodies were found in the basement of an apartment building in Mariupol after workers dug through the debris, authorities said Tuesday even as Russian forces were conducting an all-out assault to encircle Ukrainian troops in twin cities straddling a river in eastern Ukraine - a battle which could determine the success or failure of Moscow's main campaign in the east.

Mariupol was relentlessly pounded during a siege that ended last week after some 2,500 Ukrainian fighters abandoned a steel plant where they had made their stand. Russian forces already held the rest of the city, where an estimated 100,000 people remain out a prewar population of 450,000, many of them trapped during the siege with little food, water, heat or electricity.
