Google removes ToTok app from Play Store again

New Delhi: Google has removed the popular messaging app ToTok amid claims that it is being used for spying by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government for mass surveillance for a second time. The app was previously pulled from Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store in December. ToTok was allegedly used by the country to track every conversation, movement, relationship, appointment, sound, and image of those who install it on their phones, 9to5Google reported on Friday.

According to the US officials familiar with the classified intelligence assessment, the app that works like Signal or Telegram has been downloaded millions of times on Android and iOS devices in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. ToTok surged to become one of the most downloaded social apps in the US last week, according to app rankings and research firm App Annie.

With about 152.5 million smartphones shipped in India in 2019 tell a modest 8 per cent growth over last year

New Delhi: Research firm IDC has said that about 152.5 million smartphones were shipped in India in 2019 registering a "modest" 8 per cent growth over last year, positioning the country as the second-largest smartphone market after China, on Friday.

For 2020, IDC said the Indian smartphone market is expected to see "modest single-digit growth" in the year.

Xiaomi registered annual shipments of 43.6 million units in 2019, the highest-ever smartphone shipments made by any brand in a year, with a growth of 9.2 per cent y-o-y and cornered 28.6 per cent market share.

Samsung followed in the tally with 20.3 per cent share, vivo (15.6 per cent), Oppo (10.7 per cent) and realme (10.6 per cent).

New Dellhi : The Indian technology industry is facing its biggest-ever HR challenge with the need to recruit and skill more than 2 million professionals, as growing demand for 'exponential tech professionals' puts extreme pressure on it to remain globally competitive, according to a report.

The increasing competition has not left organisations with much of an alternative. They have to either embrace the challenge or perish, according to the report titled 'AI & Future Of Work: Redefining Future Of Enterprise' by BML Munjal University.

Employability with technology continues to be a problem despite India having a large number of higher academic institutions, it added.

Xiaomi MIUI 12 may arrive in Q3 2020

New Delhi: Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has shared a logo of MIUI 12 -- the next version of its custom Android skin and successor to MIUI 11 on Chinese social network Weibo which is expected to release in Q3 2020. MIUI 11 was announced last September and its global stable ROM began rolling out in October, so one can expect the MIUI 12 to arrive during the same period, news portal GSMArena reported on Friday. The post did little to reveal which features it will come with, but some reports suggest that MIUI 12 will make the system-wide dark mode to all users.

While MIUI 11 had already introduced the feature to Xiaomi phones, some users were left out. Xiaomi is reportedly planning to add three new features to its MIUI 11 user interface. The first feature to be added is a Focus mode. By using this mode, users would be able to restrict themselves to make just the emergency calls and use some camera functions.

Apple to Launch Two 'iPhone SE 2' Models In 2020

New Delhi: The Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is reportedly planning to launch two 'iPhone SE 2' models in 2020, in different sizes. The upcoming iPhone SE 2 models are expected to feature a 5.5 and a 6.1-inch LCD display, Digitimes reported recently.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also suggests there could be another "iPhone SE 2" model on the way, dubbed the "iPhone SE 2 Plus," but in the first half of 2021. The initial model of the so-called ?iPhone SE 2? is expected to resemble the iPhone 8, including a Touch ID home button, but with a faster A13 chip and 3GB of RAM.
