Instagram To Allow Influencers Earn from Ads on IGTV Content

New Delhi: Facebook-owned Instagram is rolling out new tools for creators to make money directly from their content on Live and IGTV by bringing video ads to the platform. To begin with, the ads will only appear when people click to watch IGTV videos from previews in their feed, and the initial round of ads will be vertical videos up to 15 seconds long.

Instagram will share at least 55 per cent of the revenue from these ads with creators, which would motivate more influencers to create material for IGTV.

"Starting next week, we are introducing ads in IGTV, our long-form video destination. We want to support creators' investment in IGTV by sharing advertising revenue with them," Instagram said in a statement on Wednesday. In addition to ads, Instagram would also roll out 'badges' next month that can be purchased by subscribers from their favorite creators. Badges will appear next to a person's name throughout the live video.

#BoisLocker: The Buck Stops At the Door of Parents

New Delhi: Instagram chat group Bois Locker Room wherein rapes were glorified and underage girls were objectified shook the national consciousness and now, leading behavioral experts have urged the society to strongly consider the application of gender sensitization and social media literacy for the school-going children, says a report by IANS. The incident came to light after a girl from South Delhi shared a screenshot of the group chat on social media. Meanwhile, another alleged version of a girls' locker room started trending on Twitter. Many screenshots shared on the platform alleged that just like the boys' version, there is a similar chat group that sexualises and objectifies boys and talks trash about their bodies.

According to Dr Samir Parikh, Director, Mental Health & Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Healthcare, there is immense exposure that young minds have to the media. "While it may be difficult for parents to continually monitor what media their children come across directly or indirectly, it is possible to have the right conversations with them to help them build a good understanding of how the media can influence their perceptions, understanding and their behaviours," Parikh told IANS.
