Prime Minister Narendra Modi signaled India's intentions to host the Olympic Games in 2036 when he addressed the opening ceremony of the historic International Olympic Committee session in Mumbai on Saturday. Addressing the IOC leadership in the city, PM Modi said it's the dream of 140 crore Indians to see the country hosting the prestigious Olympic Games. 

PM Modi, during his speech, did not mention specifics of the candidate city but Ahmedabad certainly is the frontrunner. PM Modi, at the IOC session, also said India would be keen on hosting the 2029 Youth Olympic Games, which will enable the country to rehearse for the Summer Olympics in 2036. Notably, Paris will host the Olympics in 2024, Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032. 

More than 100 years since its only appearance at the biggest sporting event of them all, cricket is set to make a return to the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles 2028.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Monday formally approved the inclusion of the ‘Gentleman’s Game’ along with four other sports on Day 2 of its 141st Annual Session in Mumbai.

In a stunning turn of events, Afghanistan's cricket team achieved a historic victory against defending champions England at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. This win, by a margin of 69 runs, marks a significant milestone for Afghanistan's cricketing journey, as it's only their second victory in World Cup history.

The game began with England winning the toss and electing to field, aiming to restrict Afghanistan to a manageable total. However, Afghanistan's batters displayed remarkable composure and quality cricket, managing to set a competitive target of 284 runs before being bundled out in the final over.

The Indian athletics contingent will begin their campaign from Friday, the 6th day of the Asian Games with the race walkers, hammer throwers and shot putters in action first. Plus, Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni will play the final in men’s doubles while Nikhat Zareen will look to extend her winning run.

Australia avoided an unprecedented series whitewash after registering a 66-run victory over India in the third ODI here on Wednesday. Chasing a massive 353 to win, India were restricted by Australia to 286 in 49.4 overs. India however won the three-match series 2-1.

The Aussies motored to 352 for 7 after Mitchell Marsh (96), Steve Smith (74), Marnus Labuschagne (72) and David Warner (56) made impact knocks.
