Virat Kohli slammed the winning six to seal a win for India against England in the second T20I of the five-match series, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. In reply to England's target of 165 runs, captain Kohli scored an unbeaten knock of 73 in 49 balls, to help India reach 166 for three in 17.5 overs. The hosts had a poor start to their chase, losing KL Rahul for a duck. But after the arrival of Kohli, India began to gain momentum and also saw the skipper stitch together a partnership with debutant Ishan Kishan. Kishan also registered a half-century (56 off 32 balls), before getting dismissed.

Mithali Raj on Friday became the first Indian woman to score 10,000 runs in international cricket across all formats. Mithali reached the milestone in the ongoing third One-day International (ODI) against South Africa in Lucknow. The Indian ODI skipper scored 36 runs before being dismissed by Anne Bosch. Mithali has scored 6974 runs in ODIs while in the T20Is, she has 2,364 runs to her name. The 38-year-old right-handed batter has also scored 663 runs from 10 Test matches. 

Virat Kohli on Thursday said that Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will start as openers for India in the upcoming five-match T20I series against England. Rohit, Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan are the three openers available in the squad for the series. "KL (Rahul) and Rohit (Sharma) have been consistent performers. Those two will start," Kohli said at a virtual press conference on the eve of the T20I series in Ahmedabad. All five T20Is of the series will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium. 

Ahead of the series there have been reports that spinner Varun Chakravarthy, also in the squad for the series, had failed fitness tests. Kohli said it is expected of players to match fitness standards set for the team. 

We would expect players to abide by the (standards) required for Team India," Kohli said. 

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is set to miss India's five-match T20I series against England that will take place from March 12 to 20. Chakravarthy is understood to have failed to clear the mandatory fitness tests set by the BCCI. It is likely that the selectors will draft in Rahul Chahar as a replacement, with the legspinner having already been named as one of the net bowlers for the series.

Meanwhile, Rahul Tewatia is currently training with the national squad in Ahmedabad. Tewatia, who received his maiden national call-up for the series, had also failed in his initial fitness test. It is not yet clear whether Tewatia - picked as a bowling allrounder after his exploits for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 - will get another chance to clear his fitness test or be asked to continue as a net bowler only.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal after the presentation of the Delhi Budget 2021 said that the city will bid to host the 2048 Olympic Games. He said the Delhi government will do everything to ensure that the Capital is ready for such an event.

“In the budget, we have mentioned a vision that the 2048 Olympic Games should be held in Delhi. We shall bid for the games and we will do whatever it takes to build the infrastructure and create other necessities required for this. We will talk to the Central government to bid for Delhi as an Olympic venue for the 2048 games,” Kejriwal told media persons after the presentation of the budget.
