Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif lavished praise on women's team skipper Mithali Raj for showing that experienced players still hold the key over young talent in the set-up.

Skipper Mithali smashed a classy fifty as India defeated England by four wickets in the third and final ODI on Saturday. Criticised for the low strike rate, Mithali rose to the occasion and played a captain's knock as she remained unbeaten on 75 off 86 balls to see India home.

Kaif said we must encourage the young guns but shouldn't write off senior players in cricket.

Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu's request for advanced recovery system approved; preparations get a big boost

World champion and 2016 Olympics silver medalist PV Sindhu's quest to be in the best physical shape when taking the court each time at the Tokyo Games received a shot in the arm when her request to buy advanced recovery equipment was approved by the Government on Friday inside 24 hours.

"I am happy that it did not take even a day for the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to approve my request for the recovery system. The clearance was really quick, and I will be able to place an order and procure it in time to take it with me to the Olympic Games," Sindhu said upon receiving the administrative sanction to procure the Game Ready recovery system.

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, opened up about his personal relationship with India skipper Virat Kohli after his post-match hug with his counterpart in the ICC World Test Championship final did rounds on social media.

The 30-year-old Williamson guided his team to a historic win by eight wickets, chasing a target of 139 on the reserve day of the summit clash. The New Zealand skipper went on to hug Kohli after Ross Taylor scored the winning runs.

In an interview to sports website, Williamson revisited the moment and said, "That was a great moment. We knew anytime you play against India, wherever you are, it's an incredibly tough challenge. They often set the benchmark in our game in all formats. They show that with the depth that they have and their cricket as well."

Germany forward Thomas Mueller poured his heart out in an emotional message on social media after missing a chance to equalise for his team in the 0-2 defeat against England in their Euro 2020 round of 16 clash at the Wembley Stadium in London on Tuesday.

England took the lead through Raheem Sterling in the 75th minute after which Germany had the golden chance to equalise when Thomas Mueller got the ball near the opposition box but shot it wide of the goalpost despite only having goalkeeper Thomas Pickford to beat.

England doubled their lead just minutes later as captain Harry Kane headed a fine cross from Jack Grealish into the back of the net in the 86th minute to seal the deal for the Three Lions. It was England's first win over Germany in a Euro knockout clash since 1966.
