New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in crucial World Cup match to the fourth spot in the points table. New Zealand achieved the target of 172 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. With this victory, New Zealand has almost sealed its place in the semi-finals. 

However, Pakistan still has an outside chance to get into the semifinals at New Zealand’s expense. 

Angelo Mathews was aware he was in danger of being timed out when he walked in to bat in Sri Lanka's World Cup game against Bangladesh on Monday in Delhi.

Media has learned that as soon as Mathews, who replaced Sadeera Samarawickrama, walked onto the field, he was told by Richard Illingworth, one of the on-field umpires, that he had 30 seconds left to be ready to face the bowler.

Ibrahim Zadran became the first Afghan batter to score a hundred at the World Cup as Afghanistan posted 291 against Australia in their league stage game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Earlier, Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat. Veteran Australian batter Steve Smith missed out with a vertigo and was replaced by Mitchell Marsh, while Glenn Maxwell returned to the playing eleven in place of Cameron Green. Afghanistan made one change, bringing in seamer Naveen-ul-Haq for Fazalhaq Farooqi.

South Africa lost their semi-final match against India in their group stage match of the ODI World Cup 2023. South Africa were hammered at the Eden Gardens by 243 runs, their first loss in 5 games.

Speaking after the match, South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj said that the loss against India could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the team before they play their semi-finals fixture. South Africa are the second team after India to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament and had been in tremendous form ahead of the India game. India, however, humbled South Africa in all departments of the game - first putting up 326/5 in a slow track of Eden Gardens and then bowling the Protea side out for 83 runs.

Rohit Sharma-led Team India continued their supreme run at the ongoing World Cup and defeated South Africa by 243 runs at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday. Ravindra Jadeja was the architect behind India's splendid show with ball as he completed a five-wicket haul. Riding on his effort, India folded South Africa for 83 in 27.1 overs after handing them a stiff target of 327. Apart from Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets each, while Mohammed Siraj picked one.
