Pakistan leg spinner Yasir Shah has asked the Asia Cup side to be wary of Virat Kohli. The talismanic Indian batter has not been in form for a while now, and has even dropped to the 32nd position in the ICC T20I rankings.

However, Pakistan's first choice leg spinner in the Test format, Yasir Shah, has issued a warning for his own team stating that one should not be taking Virat Kohli lightly.

"Don't take Virat Kohli easy. Yes, he is not in form because he is struggling to score runs, but he is a world-class player and he can come back to form at any time," he said to Pakistan channel pktv.tv.

Kohli has an exemplary record against Pakistan and was the only man standing at one end in the 2021 World Cup. If it were not for the former Indian captain's half century, India could not have reached a respectable score of 151 runs.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram as the coach for the national team for both the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE and the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. A report in 'The Daily Star' newspaper quoted a BCB director, who confirmed Sriram's appointment and said, "Yes, we have chosen Sriram up until the World Cup.

"As we are moving forward with a fresh mindset, the new coach will be seen from the Asia Cup onwards. And since the T20 World Cup is our main target, he (a new coach) will not get time to adapt if he is not recruited from the Asia Cup. Many may say that there is not much left for the Asia Cup. However, as I said, our main focus is the T20 World Cup," he added.

Former India captain Virat Kohli said that the constant pressure and scrutiny can affect the mental health of a sportsperson negatively and has personally experienced it, adding he had felt alone, at times, despite being in a room full of people. Kohli has been subject to constant scrutiny, especially in the recent past wherein he has gone through a lean patch in international cricket. He quit T20I as well as IPL captaincy to ease up the pressure. The star batter was removed as ODI captain following which he also gave up Test captaincy in an unforeseen manner earlier this year following a series defeat in South Africa.

Former India captain Virat Kohli has been going through a rough batting patch for a while now. Kohli has not scored a century in international cricket since 2019 and the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 and the first clash against Pakistan on August 28 will be litmus test for the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain.

The 33-year-old failed to register a single half-century against England across all formats. Kohli began his training and preparation for the Asia Cup 2022 on Wednesday (August 17) by posting a video of his gym session on social media.
