Mohammed Kaif on star Indian test player ahead of Bangladesh series, "He made Selectors surrender"

India is scheduled to play two-match Test series on Bangladesh soil starting from December 14. Ahead of the first Test (December 14-18), former Indian batter Mohammed Kaif heaped praise on star test player Cheteshwar Pujara. Notably, Pujara was dropped from the team for the home series against Sri Lanka this year.

However, the veteran batter made a comeback to the side for the rescheduled test against England. after being dropped, Pujara proved selectors wrong and scored runs in County Cricket and also on the domestic circuit.

Lauding Pujara, Kaif said that he had made selectors surrender with his performance. "The way he scored runs after getting dropped, he has set an example for young players on how to make a comeback. He went to play County cricket, he scored centuries in four-day matches and 50-over games, which prompted the selectors to recall him. He made the selectors surrender in front of him," the former Indian batter told NDTV during an interaction organised by the Sony Sports Network.

Controversial referee Mateu Lahoz has been sent home from Qatar on Monday and will not be taking part in any capacity for the remaining four matches of the FIFA World Cup 2022. 

Lahoz was under the spotlight after he officiated Argentina's penalty win over the Netherlands in the quarterfinals of the tournament, where he was heavily criticized by the players and fans. 

The Spanish referee dished out 15 yellow cards for both teams, including one for Lionel Messi during the match. The encounter was a highly intense one as it saw many flashing points and even had a fight between both sets of players.

Cristiano Ronaldo says he will never turn his back on playing for Portugal following their World Cup exit.

A 1-0 defeat to tournament surprise packed Morocco saw Portugal crash out at the quarter-final stage, a game which saw Ronaldo start on the bench for the second successive time.
